The All Progressive Congress (APC) chairman of Zangon Kataf local government area of Kaduna state, Aphasias Shinkut, has said there is no room for selfish politicians in the area in 2015, pointing out that the people are tired of unfulfilled promises by politicians, particularly those who feel they can buy them over with their money.
Speaking yesterday when the party received on consultation and support driven mission, Alhaji Salihu Mohammed Lukman, who is aspiring for the governorship position of Kaduna State on the APC platform, he added that on no condition will they sell their votes in the 2015 general elections to desperate and self centered politicians who have nothing to offer the poor masses of the state.
“Let it be known that our votes are not for sale or for the highest bidder, we will support any aspirant who has the feelings and interest of the masses at heart and not selfish and self centered politicians.
“We the people of Zangon Kataf want to assure you that we are solidly behind you and will by the grace of God give you our support when the time comes. You have shown us that you are with us and we are sure you will not forget your home (Zangon Kataf) where you started your education career, we wish you well and we are saying you can always count on our support during the primaries and during the election if you emerge victorious at the primaries”, he said.
Earlier in his speech, the guber candidate, Alhaji Lukman said, “I feel highly humbled with this kind of reception you have given me and I must say I am very grateful. First and foremost, I want to say that I am not here to promise you heaven on earth or tell you what I will not do, but to tell you that I am offering myself to effect change in the way and manner the state is presently being governed”.
He however said the desired change may be impossible if party members are not united, adding “my mission among several others is to first and foremost unite the good people of Kaduna state, beginning with uniting our party members.
“My agenda will include uniting all the people of Kaduna State, creating employment opportunities in all sectors, providing quality and affordable education for all, developing world class health systems, modernising agriculture and increasing farmer’s income and renewing our urban centres”, he said.
Speaking earlier, the campaign director and former Commissioner of Education in Kaduna State, Tom Maitamashi, who presented the governorship aspirant to the people of Zangon Kataf, said Lukman is one aspirant that can be trusted at all times.
“Alhaji Lukman is a man of the people, full of humility and respect for the old and the young and that is why am presenting him to you to give him your support at the party’s primaries, he will not let you down and will not be an ingrate if you support him” he stressed.
