From Ahmed Kaigama Bauchi

The Bauchi State Government has dispelled the rumours circulating that government is planning to dismiss some civil servants in the state.
The State Head of Civil Service, Alhaji Liman Bello disclosed this yesterday while speaking to journalists in his office, said such rumours are being spread by satanic mischievous people who are doing it to tarnish the good image of the present administration.
He explained that the present administration has no plans to terminate the appointment of any civil servant, saying the rumours was part of efforts by unpatriotic citizens to sabotage the determination of the present administration towards the improvement of civil service in the state.
He advised civil servants and people of the state to disregard such rumours as government is doing everything possible to improve the welfare of civil servants and ensure optimum productivity.
On those working as contract staff, Alhaji Liman Bello said government has decided to disengage such contract staff because their contract has expired, but pointed out that plans are underway to recommend the engagement of unemployed youth in the state once the financial position of the state improves by lifting the employment embargo.
When contacted on the issue, the state NLC Chairman Comrade Hashimu Gital described the rumours as baseless, unfounded, saying government and the organized labour in the state have a good relationship and government cannot take such decision without consulting the labour side.
He therefore called on workers in the state to disregard the rumours and continue with their normal business, saying their prayer is for government to engage more people especially unemployed youth into the civil service.
Comrade Gital commended the state government for the prompt release of worker’s promotion after the December promotion examination exercise and assured workers that government will focus attention on the improvement of their welfare.
