The Permanent Secretary Ministry of Environment and Coordinator Digitest,Mrs.Ibukun Odusote ,said no meaningful development, growth can happen and take place any longer without Information Communication Technology (ICT).
Odusote made the disclosure recently,during a press briefing in Abuja to mark the activities of Digitest 2019, themed “Governance,Accountability,creativity and Transparency (ACT)”,saying that it is a annual ICT creative camp and competition for young techies from ages 8-18.
She said Digitest, an initiative of Digital Peers International(DPI),is a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO),championing the development of Information and communication Technology (ICT) capabilities in women,children and young people,and empowering them with knowledge and abilities for effective application of ICT in various fields of human endeavor.
Odusote stated that “the main objective of the DPI includes creating world class Digital Resource Center(DRC)for children where state of the art resources would be made available for education and youth development.
She said to tap into this demand of talent in the global space”we will be getting our participants in line for the tech future ahead. We are going to work primarily in 3 fields – design, build &code.”
She explained that, apart from Core IT matters, DIGITEST camp affords children to network with their counterparts from other nations and other states of the nation.
“DIGITEST provides for Public Speaking, Team-building, networking, sports and recreation, talent hunt, dancing, decent fashion parade, bonfire night, cultural display among others .
