A Deputy Manager, of the Kaduna Refining and Petrochemical Company (KRPC), a subsidiary of NNPC, Mukhtar Bashir, has been kidnapped by unknown gunmen in his residence.
Information gathered reveals that the sum of 6 million naira ransom has been demanded by the suspected kidnappers.
The incident occurred on Thursday night, when Malam Bashir, with his children went to perform their Magrib and Isha’i prayers and were returned back to his residence in Ashiru Kudan road, Kawo area of Kaduna state.
Information gathered revealed that the kidnappers, who drove in two cars, a Honda and a Golf car, waited for him at the entrance to his gate. And when he drove in, they followed him and took him away in his official car, Toyota Avensis with modern technology (Tracker GPS), which allows for monitoring of the car’s location.
Although details of his abduction was sketchy as at the time of filing this report, the State Commissioner of police, Umar Shehu when contacted, confirmed the incident; he however debunked that it was a case of kidnap.
According to the Commissioner, “it cannot be concluded to be a case of kidnapping; he was taken in his own car and may be dropped on the way, just give us some time, we are working on the matter,” CP Shehu said.
