The Spokesman of Wikki Tourists FC of Bauchi, Abbas Usman, yesterday said the club would sustain its lead achieved in the first stanza of the 2013/2013 Nigeria National League (NNL).
Usman told newsmen in Bauchi that the club was leading the table as at the end of the first half of the season with 31 points.
He said they were being followed by Adamawa United with 26 points.
Usman said that with the current development, the management and technical officers of Wikki were hopeful that it would return to the Nigerian top filght.
“As at the closure of the first half of the season, Wikki Tourists FC is leading the table with 31 points.
“The nearest to us is Adamawa United with 26 points and we will make sure that we sustain the lead when the competition resumes next week,” he said.
Usman further said that with the calibre of players in the club, it would continue to hold to its advantage to get more points.
He added that the initial advantage the club recorded in the opening of the season in Jigawa boosted the morale of the players who had continued to sustain it.
Usman said the players were now more determined and tactically ready to face any club in the competition and emerge victorious.
Wikki Tourists were relegated last season from the Globacom Premier League due to poor performance that was attributed by some to the negative behaviour by its supporters.
The behaviour of the supporters during the last season led to the banishment of the club to play some of its matches in an empty stadium.
