As part of its activities as a charity, the Nigerian Muslim Forum UK has made available the sum of N1.4 million for the purchase of grains, which were distributed among needy persons in 28 states of Nigeria to mark the end of Ramadan fasting.
The Forum released the money to representatives in Nigeria, who bought the grains and shared to the recipients who are mainly people that are poverty-stricken or those affected by conflict or natural disaster and identified on the basis of need.
Earlier, the Forum also provided food for Iftar (breaking of fast) worth N108, 000 during Ramadan. Among the beneficiaries were residents of the blind camp in Mafoni, Maiduguri and others in Yobe, Adamawa, Kano, Gombe and Plateau states.
NMF UK is able to fund its activities through donations from members and non-members. It received donations during the month of Ramadan with which it provided Iftar food to those in need. The Forum received N400, 000 as zakat and sadaqa, which it plans disburse to improve the conditions of needy persons in Nigeria.
It also recently got from a donor the sum of N500, 000 to be used in constructing a borehole and a classroom block.
The Forum has also donated the sum of £500 in aid of the Palestinian people in Gaza.
