Residents of Kaduna State have reduced their nightlife activities due to the current activities of kidnappers and bandits bedeviling the state.
Investigation by Peoples Daily, revealed that the once vibrant nightlife in the state is gradually turning to a ghost of itself.
The state is known for citizens unwinding at bars, grilled fish spots etc, after a long day’s work to ease themselves of the hassles encountered during the course of the day.
As the evening progressed, other forms of entertainment such as nightclubbing, live bands at clubs will come alive. At this time, fun seekers are seen wining, dining and shuffling their feet to the rhythm of music played by DJs and live bands.
Several relaxation spots in Barnawa Shopping Complex, the Mangro spot along Patrick Yakowa Way, Sabo, Unguwar Gwari, Malali Low-Cost and Mahuta were always jam-packed with each relaxation centre trying to outdo the other by adding something different to spice up its services such as cocktails, comedians and dancers in a bid to endear itself to more regulars.
Also, some of these hang-outs provided residents the opportunity to unwind and fraternise with pals and business partners. Indeed, life was fun in any of the city’s many joints.
But the gaiety that characterise the city is almost gone because of the current security situation in the State.
Besides insecurity, the situation got worst with the Covid-19 pendemic which stipulated that nightclubs, beer parlours and Event Centers were closed down.
John Gyang who spoke to this Reporter said, his family could no longer get the type of fun they used to get before in Television Village because of the security challenges.
“We couldn’t go anywhere. We were so scared that the first thing that come to our minds is our safety first.”
