Following the Super Eagles’ Chief Coach, Stephen Keshi declaration that his side won’t takes Iran lightly when both teams clash at Curitiba today in their opening match at the ongoing World Cup in Brazil.

The former Togo and Mali also acknowledged that the Iranians have a top class coach in Carlos Queiroz whom he describes as their biggest weapon.

“I think their experienced coach is their biggest weapon, because he’s well experienced, he knows the game well. For the Iran game we have to be focused.

“We have to concentrate and do our job. We’re not going to take Iran lightly because they are not going to take us lightly. So we have to go out with everything that we have.

“They have a very good coach and I’m sure they also have some quality players. We don’t know Iran very well, but we’ll see them today,” Keshi said.

Keshi is banking on the mixture of experience and youth players to lift his squad in a group that also has former world champions, Argentina and debutants, Bosnia-Herzegovina.

Some Nigerians, who bare their minds, told Peoples Daily Sports correspondents that the Eagles would emulate Netherlands’ destruction of Spain and show they can compete at the World Cup ahead of their Group F opener with Iran today.

“The Super Eagles have featured in four of the previous World Cups, though we have had a poor record in competition of late and have taken only some points from their last six games in the finals.

“The weight of expectation coming from being Africa Cup of Nations holders can drive on Stephen Keshi’s side to a successful campaign.

“I want them to emulate Netherlands’ 5-1 thrashing of world and European champions Spain on Friday as proof of how far self and team work can help, “David Job, civil servant noted.

“I wish the Super Eagles success at the mundial. Iran cannot stop us from qualifying from group F. Iran don’t have any record on Nigeria, so I see no reason losing the match.

“If I may say to my fellow Nigerian, I know, we don’t have team that would win the World Cup because we are still building our team,” Mr. Onu Moses said.

“The Super Eagles should unite themselves very well, if they are able to do so, I am very sure that Nigeria will beat Iran 3:0 but one thing I know for sure was Eagles can scale through the first stage but will be out in the second round of the tournament, “Mr. Love Day civil servant, maintained.

“With the recent friendly matches that the Super Eagles have played, I have confidence on the team beating Iran completely because with the likes of Emmanuel Emenike and Osaze Odewingie at the front, we will win the match by the grace of God, “Charles Batholemi, a student said.

“With the way the Super Eagles are playing now, it will be very difficult for them to win Iran. If I could remember our last friendly match with Iran ended draw but they gave us tough time in the game, we may not beat Iran, “Miss Nacy Yakubu, a student said.

“The Super Eagles are the Africa champions, Iran can win us in our first match. In fact, any team that will play Nigeria will rethink who they are playing, we can beat Iran easily, “Wisdom Monday, said.
