Former Enugu Rangers trio of Ejike Uzoenyi , Ugonna Uzochukwu and James Okwuosa are turning on style in South Africa where they were all brilliant for their clubs over the weekend as they helped their teams to vital wins in the Premier Soccer League. The duo of Uzochukwu and Okwuosa were massive for Chippa United in their 2-0 derby win over Moroka Swallows while Uzoenyi played his part in Sundowns 0-1 away win over Bloemfontein Celtic at Free State Stadium. Uzoenyi who was brought in the 77th minute by the Brazilians attempted at opening his goal scoring account in South Africa when he fired an effort at goal from a tight angle in the third minute of added time but Celtic keeper, Tignyemb was able to make the block at the near post to deny the Nigerian. There was however more joy for Ugonna who got off the mark with a debut goal for the Chippa Boys. The defensive midfielder was part of the Nigeria home-based team to the last CHAN hosted by South Africa.
His sterling performance for the Eagles Team B no doubt stole the attention of PSL clubs with Chippa winning the race to secure the services of Ugonna who matches his marking abilities with also an eye for goal. After week six games, Uzoenyi’s Sundowns are fifth on the log with 10 points while Chippa are 9th with 7 points.
