Kebbi state governor, Alhaji Usman Sa’idu Dakingari has urged Nigerian medical doctors to have fear of God as their profession demanded when discharging their responsibilities.
He made this called recently, at the Annual General Meeting and election of new executive officers, adding that the state government received many petitions from patients and parents of the innocent souls allegedly died in the hands of the doctors in the state.
The governor, who was represented by the state Commissioner of Health, Alhaji Shehu Sambawa, said that most of the people that died in the hands of the doctors were women who were undergoing pregnancy delivery and others that were going for abortions.
‘’We have many cases in court now with regard to the abortion carried out by some of the doctors in the state; they should have affair of God as their professional demanded. This mischief should be stop’’, he admonished.
He then assured them the government’s commitment towards providing good health-care delivery to the people at the rural areas and also to ensure that the provision of maternal mortality have also been created to the women.
Speaking at the occasion, the chairman of the occasion, Dr. Mohammed Sani Ka’oje, told the professionals that they have a lot to do in terms of the health-care delivery, adding that they should know that they are dealing with human being and that lives are very important.
He then commended the efforts of the out-going members of the association for their laudable achievements in providing and uplifting the profession into the high standard it is in the state.
In his remark, the out-going chairman, Dr. Umar Garba Kangiwa thanked the members and elders in the association over their support and cooperation towards the success of its tenure.
