In a bid to diversify the economy in accordance with the Federal Government Agricultural Policy of President Muhammadu Buhari, the Nasarawa state Chapter of Oil Palm Growers Association of Nigeria (OPGAN) inaugurated a 10 man officials to run the affairs in the state with the sole aim of improving oil palm production for domestic and industrial consumption.
Performing the inaugural ceremony at the conference Hall of the Nasarawa State Ministry of Local Government, Community Development and Chieftaincy Affairs, the vice president of Oil Palm Growers Association of Nigeria (OPGAN) Mr John W. Mamman charged the officials to embrace oil palm farming with seriousness.
He added that the value derived from oil palm in the country is enormous hence the need for its production is pertinent for home and industrial utilization in the country and beyond.
He emphasized that Nasarawa is one of the states that has good opportunity in the area of land scale for oil palm farming in the country; maintaining that oil production could also add value to the revenue generation in the state instead of depending on oil and federation allocation.
