The Chairman and founder, International College Ibefun (ICI),Ijebu Ogun State, Prince Babatunde Taiwo, has admonished government at all level to subsidise education for the interest of the less privilege in the society.
Taiwo stated this while presenting cheque of #350,000 scholarship award to Miss Olawale Beatrice, one of the first set of graduates recently produced by the school in Ibefun Ijebu area of Ogun State.
Taiwo who was represented at the cheque presentation by the principal of the school, Mrs. Obiyor Ijeoma-Precious said the school is posed to ensure equitable and widespread distribution of knowledge and also to ensure a well guided policy to lead in higher education.
She stated that the students were given scholarship by the proprietor of the institution to the higher institution level adding that their students were admitted in both public and private universities.
She said the remaining beneficiaries are expected to come and get their school fees as soon as their various schools resume.
Presenting the cheque, Mrs. Obiyor urged the beneficiaries to be more hard working, diligent and productive, so as to give back to their Alma mata.
Obiyor advised the government to subsidise education and ensure it is affordable to the children of the less privilege in the society just as the proprietor of the school is doing According to her,’ where there is no education, there won’t be civilisation and lack of civilisation result to poverty and we cannot afford to groom liability in Nigeria.
‘’Some of our fathers are products of free education and that should be transfer to our children.” She stated.
Other beneficiaries expected to come for their first year tuition fees includes; Adebayo Temitope, Durojaiye Segun and Adenuga Emmanuel, Ogunbote Mariam, Onajinrin Oluwaseyi, and Adenaike Taiwo.
The seven graduate students of the school have secured admission to higher institution of their choices and have been promised by the Chairman scholarship throughout their University education.
