Nigeria’s new goal king, Mfon Udoh, believes goalscorers in the Glo Premier League have enhanced their rating this term.
Udoh, who erased Jude Aneke’s record on Sunday when he scored his 21st goal this term to become the highest goalscorer in a single season, is in the Super Eagles’ camp for the second time.
Interestingly, other contenders for the goal race have improved on their individual records from last season.
Dolphins’ Emem Eduok was the first player to equal Aneke’s 20-goal record, Bayelsa United’s Peter Ebimobowei is on 18 goals, Warri Wolves’ Gbolahan Salami and Enugu Rangers striker Osaguona Ighodaro are on 16 apiece, Kano Pillars’ Adamu Hassan on 14 goals and Sharks’ Christian Pyagbara on 14 goals.
“Compared to the last two seasons, you will notice there’s an improvement in the goal scoring ability of strikers in the league. I’m excited with this knowing that the goal race continues till the last day of the season.
“It’s good to know that the highest goal scorer award won’t be won with ease,” Udoh told supersport.com.
Udoh has a chance to even raise the bar when Enyimba welcome already crowned champions, Kano Pillars, on the last day of the season.
The goal race will be decided on the last day of action on Sunday, November 9.
