Nigeria has successfully defended its champions title at the just concluded African Spelling Competition championships which took place in Kampala Uganda.
The National Coordinator, Bee Spelling Competition Initiative (BSCI),Mall.Abdulsalaam Ibrahim disclosed this in a statement made available to the media in Kaduna yesterday.
According to the statement, EniolaIdowu of Mantclair College Ogun State emerged 2nd position, while Suleiman Dunoma of Federal Government College Maiduguri, clinched the 3rd position.
Other winners includes: BenedictaChukwu of Divine Rays British School, Obosi, Anambra State and DavidOkoro of Deeper Life High School, Aba.
The spellers were accompanied by Mrs. Adigun, Ayodele Esther of Basic Secondary Education Department, Federal Ministry of Education, who represented the Minister of Education.
The 2020 edition of the Nigeria Spelling Bee Competition has taken off in earnest, with Kano and Plateau State a blazing the trail.
The competition is organized at state, zonal and national levels at which champions will emerge to represent Nigeria in the continental competition.
Nigeria will be hosting the 2020 edition of the Africa Spelling Competition in which twenty two African countries are members.
