The Speaker of the Niger state House of Assembly, Hon. Abdullahi Bawa Wuse has handed down warning on noncompliance and lack of appropriate response to the Annual Audit Report (AUR) by the State Ministries, Department and Agencies.
He gave the warning during the inauguration of the Standing Committee of Public Accounts Committee of the house held at the Assembly complex in Minna, saying that the affected risks appropriate sanctions as contained in the relevant laws of the state.
The speaker however urged top Civil Servants and other relevant political office holders to ensure full compliance and adequate response of any audit quarries sent by the State and Local Government Audit Departments.
He assured that the 9th legislature was committed to partner with the Executive to ensure probity, accountability and transparency in the utilization of public funds ad appropriated by the law to enhanced checks and balances in the system to attain the desire development of the state.
In his remarks, the chairman of the Committee and member representing Agaie constituency, Hon. Yahaya Abdullahi who solicited the support of the House and other stakeholders in the discharged of their responsibility.
Hon. Abdullahi assured the house of the Committee determination of doing the needful by bringing sanity and solved the challenges faced by the key stakeholders in the discharge of their constitutional mandates.
Also in their separate remarks, the State Auditor General, Alhaji Ndawuya Muhammad and that of Local Government, Alhaji Ibrahim Ahmed decried over the challenges faced by their organizations that include; paucity of funds, neglect and bottlenecks in the implementation of their recommendations on Annual Audit Report by government officials in the state charged for its reversal.
