The Niger South Senatorial District under the auspices of Zone A Progressive Forum of Niger State, have urged the youths and electorates from the zone not to be deceived by selfish politicians to disrupt the governorship zoning arrangement to ensure fairness and justice to the three zones in the state.
The Zonal Chairman of the forum, Hon. Mohammed Isah Yifengi, gave the charge in Bida at a Public Lecture titled: “The imperative of Governor Abubakar Sani Bello second term (Lolo 2x) Transformation/ Socio- economic development of Niger State”.
He emphasized the need to enlighten and educate the people on the achievements of the present administration of APC government in the state, calling on the people to unite so as to enable the party and its candidates to return for second term in office especially the Governorship seat.
Yifengi said that only the incumbent Governor can sustain and stabilize the zoning arrangement put in place in the state for sustainable peaceful coexistence, fairness and justice, hence any other candidate may likely be interested in two terms that will be contrary to the agreement.
An elder in the state and party stalwart, Engr Mohammed Daban, in an interview, appealed to the youths in the country not to be used as political thugs and to desist from disobeying their leaders, while preparing themselves for leadership position.
Daban however applauded the developmental stride of President Muhammadu Buhari in ensuring good roads, ease of transportation, especially the Baro port project, job opportunity for teaming youths, security and fighting corruption, which he said the Niger state Governor is working seriously to emulate in the state.
The lecturer and discussant, Haruna Ibrahim from Federal University of Technology, Minna, who described Governor Abubakar Sani Bello as ‘a product of gentleman agreement’ of zoning, said that Zone A and B have had their two terms of eight years each, hence Zone C should be given their slot.
He stated that before the emergence of the present administration in the state, there was impunity, injustice, deep corruption and misrule in the highest order, which was experienced before the change mantra brought relief from such menace.
The Commissioner of Solid Minerals, Hajiya Ramatu Yar’ adua, then called on the people from the zone to be patient, saying that everything possible is being done to ensure the provision of dividends of democracy in the state despite the financial challenges.
Represented by her Personal Assistant, Mohammed Bello Fazhi, she explained that zonal arrangement is sacrosanct, adding that this would ensure fairness and peaceful coexistence in the state.
