The Niger State Commissioner of Police Austin Agbonlahor has said that about 33 suspected criminals have been arrested since he assumed office in the last one month hence the peaceful and crime free Sallah celebration.
He made the disclosure yesterday in Minna at a media chat and get together organized by the command to sustained the synergy between the Police and the media practitioners in the state.
Agbonlahor hinted that the suspected criminals comprised of 22 suspected armed robbers, 6 cattle rustlers, 5 kidnappers and has so far within period under review recovered 415 cattle, 7 vehicles, 2 arms and life ammunitions from the suspects.
He explained that the Police in the state are on top of situation to sustain its peaceful nature urging criminals to repent or get out of Niger State hence to face arrest and prosecution just as investigation is ongoing assuring that when completed they will be prosecuted in Court.
He appealed to the general public to provide useful information to the police at appropriate time to curb crimes and bring crimes to the barest minimal assuring that they would be treated in confidence.
The CP, however, charged for balancing and verification of information by the journalists before going to the press to avoid misleading and misinformation to the public while he assured that the command will not hoard information from the media by operating an open door policy.
