From Yakubu Mustapha Minna
The Niger State Police Command has confirmed that only one person was killed and four abducted by armed men in Munya local government as against the publication in some National Dailies.
This was contained in a press statement made available yesterday to journalists at Police headquarters in Minna, saying that about ten armed men invaded the house of one Sale Danjuma 35 years at Zazzaga village and kidnapped two persons.
It explained that the same man was trying to prevent the kidnappers and was shot by the hoodlums.
Meanwhile, another similar incident occurred in Masuku village in Shiroro local government of Niger State where two girls namely Shekto Ali and Mai’abu Shehu were kidnapped as Police was making concerted efforts to rescue the two girls.
Consequently, the command has deployed its various personnel to the area to rescue those in the custody of the abductors, arrest the criminals and bring them to book.
This has contradicted the earlier information given by the Senator representing Niger East senatorial district of Niger State, Senator David Umaru who said three persons were killed and 10 other abducted in the area as published in the dailies.
The State Commissioner of Police, Dibal Yakadi on assumption of office last week solicited for the cooperation of the people of the state to give information to the agency, assuring them of confidentiality.
