Niger: LG chair grants scholarship to 500 students

No fewer than 500 students studying in various tertiary institutions across the country have been awarded scholarship by Bida Local Government Area of Niger State.
The Chairman of Bida Local Government Area, Hon. Suleiman Sheshi disclosed this while addressing journalists to mark his hundred days in the office, saying that the gesture is to promote education in the area and reduce out of school children.
Sheshi said that those beneficiaries were students studying in the universities, polytechnic and College of Education as well as other institutions like health institutions.
He said that within three months in the office his administration has also purchased JAMB forms for 500 students and 400 for NAPTIP while over 300 trade women were supported with N10,000 cash to complement their business.
The chairman further explained that two classes room were renovated at Tadafu wards together with the seating chairs and also borehole has been rehabilitated in seven awards.
“We have rehabilitate township roads by filling the portholes across the local government areas and also construction of roundabout is ongoing, we also purchased ambulance vehicle,” he stated.
He commended the efforts of the Niger State Governor, Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello for supporting his administration by ensuring good governance.
“I have expanded about N40m on the projects I executed so far, I used the little resources we are having like internal generating revenue and promise to do more, I believe in destiny and legacy” he said.
He appreciated the Emir of Bida, and the chairman traditional rulers, Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar for his royal support and advised for the achievements he recorded within his hundred days in his office, urged them to prayed for him in piloting the affairs of the council.
