Niger govt reassures on completion of ongoing projects

The Niger State government has reassured the citizens of making funds available for the completion of ongoing projects across the state as captured in the 2020 budget tagged “Budget of Inclusion for Sustainable Development” aimed at improving the lives of the people.
State Commissioner of Finance, Alhaji Abubakar Zakari gave the assurance during a briefing on the budget breakdown at government house. Minna, said that the 13.2% decrease from 2019 budget was to make it a realizable budget.
He explained that this year’s budget of over N148 billion is divided in to four sectors of the economy consisting of administrative sector having N5.4 billion, economic sector has N51.8 billion, Law and Justice sector with N1.17 billion while social sector have N19.75 billion representing (25%)
Zakari noted that the process to ensure inclusive budget and transparency gave raised to the zonal town hall meetings held in Bida, Suleja and Kontagora respectively to ensure the inputs of the people, just as 2020 budget has 78% as capital expenditure in addition to personnel cost of N35.6 billion (51%) and N1.9 billion for civil servants leave grants.
He assured of the state government readiness in the payment of N30,000 minimum wage for civil servants in the state ad only additional N7,5000 each was needed for actualized such dream as currently paying N22,500.
He further hinted that the state government is expecting refunds from the federal government to the sum of N133 million, dividend of N400 million from North South Power and accumulated sum of N3.8 billion as grand rent for land use from NELCA, assuring of adequate provision was made in place to meet up all requirements.
Also, the Commissioner for Budget Planning, Alhaji Mamman Musa said that his ministry will not relent in consistent monitoring and evaluation of implementing projects to ensure it meet up with the standard specification and completion of those contracts.
He reiterated the determination of the current administration of governor Abubakar Sani Bello in the provision of remarkable dividend of democracy to the people of the state and will not relent.
