Another Islamic fundamentalists sect, identified as MadinatuMuheenuHamdallah has been dislodged by the Niger state government, following a security report about the sect.

The pro-active measure of the state government is coming barely four years after a suspected sect, known as Darul-Salam, was dislodged at Mokwa, in Mokwa Local government of the State.

The disloadgment of this sect, MadinatuMuheenuHandallah, with over 300 followers on Tuesday, was carried out at Cheche, near Lapai, by the Task Force led by Col. A. Y. Yakubu, of the 313 Artillery Brigade, Minna, who said they did not resist evacuation as the operation was successful.

Speaking with the journalists during the evacuation of the sect members to their various local government areas of the state, Permanent Secretary Security Matters office of the SSG, Mr. James Kolo, revealed that the sect illegally occupied a total of 208.88 hectres of land.

According to our findings, the sect has been operating since 2008 indoctrinating innocent followers who now believe in the Sheikh Mohammad Abubakar, the head of the group, from a rich family in Lapai who believed in the true preaching and teaching of Tijaniyya.

The sect, whose headquarters is close to IBB University, Lapai, has some students as its adherent, who subsequently established a chapel with a stronghold in the university.

Denying all the allegations of extremist levied against the group by the people of the area and the security report which indicted them, the spokesman of the sect, Malam Yusuf Uthman, who spoke in English language, said “it not a new thing for a prophet or messenger of Allah and those spreading the good words to the people to be persecuted, but its very unfortunate; we have explained intensively to the security agencies, we are Nigerian and Nigerlites; the Emir of Lapai and state government is aware of our being here and we have C of O for this land we occupy here”.

Niger State Secretary to State Government (SSG) Hon. Idris Ndako Kpaki disclosed that they were occupying the land illegally, as the issued C of O has been revoked since last year August and were ordered to evacuate the land or be forced to do so but their leader refused to abide by the law and went to court.

Ndako stated that the land was issued to him for the construction of Primary / Secondary Islamic/ Western Education but was violated as noting of such kind was seen there as it ended up been a settlement as government was proactive to avoid a situation which will not be controllable by security in the future.
