Niger Govt begins Basic Healthcare Provision Fund implementation

Niger State Government disclosed that it has commenced the Basic Healthcare Provision Fund implementation in order to support an effective delivery of primary healthcare services in the state.
The Commissioner for Health Ministry of Health and Hospital Management Services, Dr. Mohammed Makusidi said this while briefing newsmen at the government house, Minna.
He explained that the program is a large scale reform financed by annual grant of one percent consolidation revenue of the Federal Government, grant from international donors and funds from other sources.
According to him, the National Health Act, which was enacted in 2014, led to the introduction of the Basic Healthcare Provision Fund to enhance effective delivery of primary healthcare services in the country.
Dr. Makunside stated that Niger State alongside Abia and Osun were the only states that qualified to be piloted, stating further that Niger state was the first to meet up with the laid down criteria, and gave out its commitment fee of N100 million.
