The Niger State Governor, Alhaji Abubakar Sani-Bello has charged the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to continue to come up with financial and monetary policies that are people-oriented policies and focused on the diversification drive of the federal government .
He made the call in an interview with newsmen shortly after the civic reception in honour of the newly appointed Deputy Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, Mrs. Aisha Ndanusa-Ahmad in Minna.
Governor Bello applauded the CBN on its programmes such as CBN-Anchor Borrowers and NIRSAL Programmes, noted that with the calibre of the people at the helms of affairs at the apex bank, solid monetary and financial policies should be fashioned out for the country’s economic growth and development.
He stressed that such policies by the bank should be in line with the agenda of President Muhammadu Buhari which gives adequate attention to diversification of the nation’s mono-economy and for the rejuvenation of the agricultural and the solid mineral sectors.
“The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) should continue to comes up with financial and monetary policies that will revive and propel our economy in line with the economic diversification agenda of President Buhari. The bank should chunk out policies that will further reposition the agricultural and solid mineral sectors in other to reduce our over dependence on oil and gas,” the governor advised.
Bello further appreciated President Muhammadu Buhari for appointing Mrs. Aisha Ndanusa-Ahmad, an indigene of the state and gave assurance of continuous support of the state to federal government laudable policies and programmes and urged the CBN Deputy Governor to be a good ambassador of the state.
