The immediate past Deputy Governor of Niger State and a serving Ambassador to South Africa, Amb Ahmed Musa Ibeto has dumped the ruling APC to his former political party the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
Ibeto has yesterday in his Ibelu ward of Magama local government received his membership card for the party (PDP) from Niger North senatorial district of Niger State, the same Zone with the incumbent Governor Abubakar Sani Bello.
Received by the Zonal Chairman (Zone C) of the party, Alhaji Yahaya Abdullahi Ability in an interview said that Ibeto was welcomed and followed by a murmured crowd from Kawo outskirt of Kontagora to his home town Ibeto with about 200 vehicles.
Ability described his returned as coming back home to where he belong with over 2,000 at his entourage mostly All Progressives Congress APC members including about seven (7) serving APC state House of Assembly members who are set to decamp with him to the opposition PDP.
He added that his return to the PDP will add no small value to the party in the state but also at national level considering his position as a serving ambassador to South Africa under the leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration.
Meanwhile, Hon. Ahmed Musa Ibeto fell apart from his boss former Governor Muazu Babangida Aliyu in 2015 after he failed at the primary election of their then party to secured ticket to fly the party’s flag for his gubernatorial aspirant hence his decamp to the current APC.
Reports indicated that his decamp is to further pursued his ambition to contest for the position of governorship which might face a serious opposition by the members of the PDP having seen him as a threat to other aspirant and haven humiliated and embarrassed the party noted that he contributed largely to the lost of PDP in 2015 elections.
However, a youth leader Dr Mohammed Bello in a press briefing alleged that the State Chairman of PDP, Tanko Beji was using his antics to favour his preferable candidate who is Amb. Ahmed Musa Ibeto, “It is Beji’s antics to further convince Ahmed Musa Ibeto who dumped the party to join APC in 2015 to come and contest for the governorship come 2019” he stated.
The PDP stalwart advised members of the party to reject the suggestion by Tanko Beji while considering the statement as a personal opinion that does not reflect the opinions of the party stakeholders in the state, however charged for its reversal.
He explained that it is a pre plan arrangement deliberately to allowed unpopular candidate to emerge which will surely ease the chances of the ruling APC to returned to power in 2019 and called for restraint.
