Niger Deputy Gov dumps PDP, defects to APC

MmusaNiger state Peoples Democratic Party PDP has suffered another heavy blow Today as the deputy governor Hon. Ahmed Musa Ibeto officially defected to All Progressives Congress APC in Minna the state capital after suffering injustice and humiliation from the ruling PDP.

Ibeto while addressing journalists in his residence said “it is right we have decided to defect from the PDP to APC for obvious reasons, you know what happened in the state, there was a primary conducted by my former party which was not actually in accordance to the rules and regulations of the party, we make our position very clear hoping that the National Secretariat will do something about it. We believed that there is no justice, no fair play in that party so therefore, it’s no longer the party we can belong to”.

The deputy governor confirmed that over 200 members of the ruling PDP cutting across all the 25 local governments in the state.

The decampees are made up of political appointees and elected members national and state assembly members who include former local government chairmen, councilors and ward executives mostly former.

While defending his decision to decamp he said “you know in Nigerian we have freedom of association, you can either belong to party A or B or C or remain partisan, not anybody’s business”.
“I am going to APC rally, but first going to the airport to welcome our leader General Muhammadu Buhari rtd who is coming to Niger state for a political campaign”.

Ibeto intimated that he had decided to minimize the list of decampees to only those who are currently holding position or formerly on positions in the PDP at local, state and national levels.

He appealed to all his supporters to remain calm, conduct themselves in a peaceful manner warned that politics is not a do or die affair that must be carried out in peace assured of peaceful February polls
“I am a peace loving person and will not like to see crisis before, during and after the election because of my defection”.

Added that there was no need to consult his boss Dr Muazu Babangida Aliyu but he is aware of his mission to defect to the APC he stated.
