The Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Dr. Stephen Oru, has debunked insinuations that the Ministry is executing only one project of the 388-kilometre East-West project in the Niger-Delta region.

A statement by Salisu Na’inna Dambatta, a Director of Information in the ministry said the minister also warned contractors executing some of the projects to conclude them within two weeks or risk the termination of their contracts.
The Minister announced that the Federal Government would soon award the contarct for the total reconstruction of the dilapidated 15-kilometre section of the East West Road from Eleme-Onne Port junction to ease the perrenial traffic jam in the area.
Dr. Oru added that the Ministry was also constructing nine Skills Acquisition Centres, one in each of the nine states in the region, as well as nine housing estates of 40 units in each of the nine states.
“The 40 Units housing estate in Rivers state is located in Kula. It is there for the benefit of the good people of Rivers state”, the Minister said.
He said that it was a manifestation of ignorace for anybody to claim that the Ministry was persuing a single project, adding that one of the 16 roads being executed by the Ministry is between Elele in Rivers State and Owerri, the capital of Imo State.
