The Niger State House of Assembly has summoned the General Manager Abuja Electricity Distribution Company AEDC Munna office to appear before the House over complete power outage after youth peaceful demonstration.
Moving the motion under matter of urgent public importance brought under order 4, rule 1 of the House standing order by Hon. Malik Madaki Boso representing Bosso constituency.
The lawmaker in his presentation said he personally witnessed the demonstration he described as peaceful hence the security agency were present just as since that day AEDC have shutdown completely supply of electricity in the state capital.
The House, however, resolved that the house should meet with the leaders of the demonstrators and the representatives of the AEDC as well the deputy governor representative for possible dialogue to resolved the matter amicable.
It urged the AEDC to immediately restore the supply of the electricity in Niger State and called upon the demonstrators in the interest of peace to call off or suspend the demonstration and allowed dialogue.
Bosso also expressed concern over the effect of lack of power on small entrepreneurs economically.
He was also worried on AEDC charges of consumers even as he called o the House to immediately intervene in order to restore normalcy.
He noted that the intervention of the state Deputy Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Mohammed Ketso was yet to yield positive results.
