Niger Assembly assures of legislation for rapid socio-economic devt

The Niger State House of Assembly has reiterated its determination to partner with the executive and other stakeholders in the state to ensure the transformation for the rapid socio- economic development of the state.
This would be enhanced through appropriate legislative appropriation of the State annual financial resources, the assembly said.
The Chairman house committee on Rules and Business, Hon. Mohammed Bako (Rafi) made the disclosure at the ongoing 2018 budget screening exercise for the Executive/ MDAs led by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG) who appeared before the committee to defend their budget proposals.
Bako further applauded the executive arm for its prudence, accountability and transparency in the management of available resources allocated for its annual budgetary allocation for both recurrent and capital expenditure.
He however reassured the citizens that the important capital projects will be completed in the current financial year.
The SSG Hon. Ibrahim Isah Ladan in his submission then highlighted the major activities of his office for the 2018 capital expenditure at the estimated sum of N1,455,528,708.00 while the recurrent estimate of N2,585,727,197.44.
Ladan stated that being the engine room of government mandated for synergizing and coordinating with security agencies in the prevention and protecting of crimes, compensation for the land acquired for the new Ketso community, purchase of five vehicles for state fire service among others.
Also the Chief of Staff (COS), Hon. Mikail Bmitosahi also highlighted some of the capital projects completed by the executive in 2017, capital expenditure of government house that includes the rebuilding of government house fence, Governor’s lodge, presidential suit and guest houses renovation.
Bmitosahi stated that the 2018 budge proposal has the capital estimate of N1,527,194,417.00 while the recurrent expenditure has a sum of N2,788,566,966.00.
In same vein, the two key government officials in their separate conclusion of their submission however appreciated the unique role of the legislature and assured for greater working relationship to achieve and realized the vision and mission of the present administration in the state.
