Niger state All Progressive Congress APC has set up a five-man committee to investigate one of the leaders of the party, Alhaji Abubakar Magaji, for allegedly making derogatory remarks about the party.
The party, in a statement signed by the Secretary of the party Barrister Mohammed Liman yesterday stated that Alhaji Magaji, who is also Ndeji Lapai, had made the derogatory remarks at a party meeting chaired by the Governor Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello.
The statement said, “At the state working committee meeting of the party held on 16th January, 2019, the derogatory statement ‘who is party’ made by Alhaji Abubakar Magaji (Ndaji Lapai) at a party meeting chaired by the leader of the party, His Excellency Abubakar Sank Bello on 14th January, 2019, were deliberated upon.”
The secretary said that the SWC of the party viewed the derogatory statement as embarrassing thereby bringing the party to hatred , contempt , ridicule and disrepute .
He stated that the SWC viewed the offence as in contravention of article 21(A) (ii) of the party’s constitution 2014 as amended.
Consequently, he said the committee constituted was a disciplinary one to investigate, the matter and recommend appropriate sanctions.
Abubakar Magaji is one of the leading leaders of the party from Niger south who had experience spanning through PDP where he was North central Chairman before joining the ACN and then APC in the merger preparatory to the 2015 election.
