From Yakubu Mustapha, Minna

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Niger State has alleged a grand design by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state to rig the forthcoming elections by collaborating with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the Department of State Security Service (DSS) and other security agencies to declare a fake and fictitious results contrary to the wish of the people.

The recent statement by the governor and leader of the party in the state, Dr. Muazu Babangida Aliyu that Nigerians should accept any result of the election declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission is said to be a pointer to the fact that the ruling PDP is out to rig the elections and declare result that is contrary to the wish of the people.

A statement issued in Minna yesterday by the APC Publicity Secretary, Mr Jonathan Vatsa noted that the APC viewed the comment by the governor as not only undemocratic but a clear message to Nigerlites and indeed Nigerians that the PDP has made up its mind to declare any result and want Nigerians to accept it in good faith.

“It is clear now that the PDP in the state have lost the hope of winning the coming elections in a free and fair contest because of the receptions it has received from Nigerlites and the ongoing decamping of its members (over 300 of them in one week) to APC and have therefore resulted to rigging of the elections as the only way out”.

Consequently, APC warned that “our party will not accept any result of the forthcoming election which does not represent the will of the people of the state and Nigerian in general. Enough is enough of election rigging in this country” APC declared.

The statement urged its teaming supporters yearning for a genuine change from bad governance at all levels in the country to ensure that they did not only collect their PVC cards, they should come out en mass to vote and protect their votes in other put an end to eight years misery in the state and the country.

Vatsa also advised all APC supporters not to be lured into selling their voters cards for any amount because that is the only weapons they can use to effect a genuine and positive change in the state and the country in general.

It applauded the party’s supporters who turned out in their numbers to welcome the APC Presidential Candidate, Gen. Mohammudu Buhari and other national leaders of the party for the presidential rally in Minna which was very encouraging and a huge success.

“We also welcome all our new members who have decided to leave a house where according to PDP national chairman, ‘monkey dey work baboon dey chop’, a house where intimidation, indiscipline, injustice, and lack of fair play is the order of the day to a house where equity, justice, rule of law, discipline and transparency is our guiding principles”.
