A Norwegian International NGO,Stefarius Alliance International in conjunction with Institute of Church and Society Ibadan and Christian Council of Nigeria have held a two day sensitisation workshop for stakeholders on religious tolerance among the populace.
The Training held in Yola Thursday- Friday drew participants from religious bodies,politicians,Media and civil society organisations,CSOs in the North East Zone .
Speaking at the occasion,a Director of the Institute,Very Rev.Kolade Fadahuusi said the theme of the workshop “Understanding freedom of religion or belief in Nigeria Context”was carefully picked with a view to deliberating with participants for acceptable ways to address the problem.
Fadahuusi explained that the negativity of religion and politics must be check properly as politicians have been using it to achieve political and personal desires.
Fadahuusi charged participants to serve as ambassadors of positive change especially in downloading the knowledge acquired in the training.
He stated that other parts of the country will benefit from such awareness training so that the mess being created by some misguided elements using religion can be addressed.
Earlier in his submission at the training,Speaker of the Adamawa state House of Assembly,Honourable Aminu Iya Abbas commended the efforts of the organisers describing it as a “Welcome development “.
Abbas observed that any rationale Nigerian knows that our system is sick or faulty which we must come together to right the wrong for national development.
