Zikirullah stated that, “although there are no verifiable statistics on youth unemployment but what we are sure of was that 65percent of Kano youths are unemployed”.

The Executive Secretary further disclosed that they have established 3 empowerment centres that includes Bichi , Kumbotso and Doguwa local councils which currently accommodate over 300 youths .

He said that the effort would be extended to all the remaining 41 local government areas in due course, adding that the selection process of beneficiaries of the scheme was characterized by transparency.

Zikirullah urged government to open up its employment scheme that would not only guarantee equal opportunity to the less privileged but create equal access to all and sundry.

He stated that “Government intervention programme are important sources of opportunity for unemployed youths” but laments that “lack of transparency and openness gave rooms for powerful interests to hoard and monopolised already inadequate opportunities”.
