NGO pays school fees of 650 orphans, empowers women in Bauchi

A Non-Governmental Organization, NGO, Hajiya Hajara Sarkin Kasuwa Mukaru da Juna Women Multipurpose Cooperative Society has supported 650 orphans with school fees and learning materials and empower women in Bauchi
Hajiya Hajara disclosed this Monday at the end of their stakeholders meeting held at their secretariat in Bauchi.
She said, “even though the organization doesn’t have place to accommodate the orphans but they provided all their school needs from primary to secondary school level, and even tertiary institutions if they excel we will sponsor them, we have paid their school fees, we provided their uniform, text books and learning materials.”
She said they have empower over 450 Women with skills acquisition and distributes food items to them to help them to cater for the orphans and commended the state chairperson Orphans and Vulnerable Children, Hajiya Hassana Arkilla who donated two sacks of rice , 10 sacks of Semovita, four blankets, 10 wrappers and a jerry can of ground nut and palm oil to assist the orphans.
Leader of the group said the organization trains various women on skills acquisition but their major problems is lack of enough capital that will help them to start a business and urged the government to come to their aid as they have over trained 1500 men and women that learnt various trade.
Hajiya Hajara said very soon after the Covid 19 pandemic they will graduate 200 women that learnt skills on how to make pomade, morning fresh, soap , and many others .
She said the finance their projects through contribution , registration of their members and the revenue they get from the sales of their products, adding that with support from government and corporate organizations the sky is their limit.
