Ngige urges employers to train staff for greater productivity

Minister of Labour and Employment, Senator Chris Ngige has called on all the employers of labour to continue to train and retrain their staff for better performance, greater productivity and effective service delivery to customers and the general public.
He made the call in Kaduna yesterday during the opening ceremony of a two- day workshop organized by the Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment in collaboration with the National Industrial Safety Council of Nigeria held at National Board for Technical Education Kaduna, yesterday
He said the importance of the training of the staff cannot be over emphasized.
The Minister who spoke through the Director, North-West Zone, Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment, Kaduna , Salawu Ohiare Abubakar, said that the essence and the purpose of the workshop which has become an annual human capacity development forum is aimed at updating social partners on emerging issues that are critical to the efficiency and overall performance at work.
Ngige explained that the deliberations are also calculated to broaden the practical knowledge and skill of our valued participants and spur them to imbibe best international practices in their respective establishment and organizations.
He advised the participants to listen attentively to the papers that will be presented by the resource persons and also actively participate in the conferences group discussion in order to make the sessions quite interesting, adding that in today’s corporate world driven by information communication technology (ICT)and Globalization training and re-training of personnel is the key to quality performance and affective service delivery to customers and populace they serve directly and indirectly.
The Minister, appreciated the distinguished social partners and stakeholders who assembled themselves from the public sector for the workshop adding that the importance cannot be over emphasized that in the courses of our statutory duties and responsibility we interact very often with these key players in our continuing efforts to maintain industrial peace, occupational safety and health as well as the highest possible level of productivity in the workplace.
