A fresh crisis is brewing in the Nigeria Football Federation as some members of the Technical Committee have kicked against the appointment of Randy Waldrum as the new Manager of the Super Falcons.
One of the prominent members of the committee informed said that the body was not aware of the appointment.
The statement from the NFF stated that: “The board has approved the recommendation of the Technical and Development Committee for the appointment of Mr. Randy Waldrum as Technical Adviser of the Super Falcons, and directed the secretariat to immediately conclude negotiations with Mr. Waldrum.”
The member however said the committee never met to discuss any appointment that it was just the decision of the NFF President, Amaju Pinnick.
“I have not heard that name before because the committee never sat for once about Falcons’,” he said.
“We only met after the Super Eagles loss to South Africa in an AFCON qualifiers, so where we recommended the appointment of the coach, I don’t know.
“We do not know about anything happening and nobody should use our name for his own personal interest, it is not fair on us.
“I heard people blaming the committee but we can only recommend what we are aware of. The President has always wanted a foreigner as Falcons’ coach, no matter who the person is, so it didn’t come as a surprise.”
He further added that apart from Coach Salisu Yusuf who submitted the list of players going to WAFU to the committee, the Super Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr, has not been in touch with the body.
According to the source, the committee members are calm as they wait till the right time before speaking publicly on their plight since they have been sidelined.
