NFF elections: Ex-director tasks North West stakeholders on consultation

From Lawal Sa’idu Funtua, Katsina

Former Katsina state Director of Sports, Alhaji Aliyu Muhammad Kofar-Soro has appealed to chairmen selected to represent the north-west zone at the forthcoming Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, election to come back home for consultation.

Speaking with sports reporters in Katsina yesterday, Kofar-Soro reminded the chairmen that they were not representing themselves only but according to him “representing the interest of the entire stakeholders in the zone”. He noted that consultations with other stakeholders in the zone would afford them the opportunity of selecting the best to represent the zone out of many candidates that indicate interest in contestiing for various positions from the zone.

According to him contestants from the zone include those vying for the chairmanship position of the NFF that include, Abba Yola, Mainasara Illo, and Shehu Dikko while those vying for executive membership include Dan Arewa, Ahlan and Shehu Adamun. Kofar-Soro warned that going by the numbers of contestants in the zone if care was not taken they may end up without any of them getting a single position, calling on them to embrace the path of consultation.

The former director noted that the zone has experience elders such as Ibrahim Galadima, Kabir Umar and A.C Ladan who according to him can be reached for consultation on the way out for the zone. He therefore appealed to them not to elect those who want to use the federation to make money but elect those that have the interest of moving football forward for the benefit of the country.
