NEMA flags off distribution of relief materials to Gombe IDPs

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has donated relief materials in order to alleviate the suffering of the internal displaced person in Gombe state.

Donating the relief materials yesterday in Gombe, on behalf of the Director- General of the agency, Alhaji Sani Sidi, the Head of operation of NEMA in Gombe, Alhaji Saidu Ahmed Minin said the

relief materials was strictly meant for the internal displaced person.

He said the distribution of the relief materials to the affected victims was aimed at reducing hardship among the people to enable them have a sense of belonging in the society.

According to him, government found it worthy to support the victims with relief materials where it constitute presidential committee on victims support fund in order to assist IDPs in north east zone who

had relocated to Gombe state.

He said “the committee set up by the government in order to alleviate the suffering of the IDPs had contributed in a right direction because its activities had positively impacted on the affected persons who had flee as a result of insurgency attacks in their respective states”.

Speaking further, NEMA Head of operation in Gombe affirmed that the collaboration between Gombe State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) and the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) had been working together to coordinate the activities of insurgency, disaster situations in the state.

He assured that the presidential committee on victims support fund on IDPs will ensure that the relief materials get across to the internal displaced persons in the state.

On her part, the Permanent Secretary Gombe state emergency management agency Hajiya Laraba Ahmed Kawu said the state had recorded 25,000 IDPs who had flee from neighbouring states to Gombe, noting that of the number, 15,000 IDPs have engaged themselves in Gombe metropolis.
