nema-logoThe National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) at the weekend donated food items to internally displaced persons from Mubi town in Adamawa state who ran to Kaduna state when insurgents took over their town few days ago.

Reports have it that about 56 displaced persons mostly women and children took refuge at Rigasa a suburb of Kaduna state.

Some of the items given to the IDPs were blanket, Rice, Sugar, Soap, buckets, cups and mattresses.

Others are Omo, palm oil, cartons of tomatoes, cartons of Milo, Indomie, mosquito nets, vegetable oil, table water, mats among others.

Addressing the displaced persons in front of Malam Nigas Rehabilitation and Skill acquisition centre, located in Rigasa, NEMA’s North-West Zonal Coordinator Musa Ilallah said the agency responded to the need of the refugees immediately it got the report of their existence.

Some of the refugees who spoke expressed satisfaction to NEMA’s response as they never expected it from the agency.

Also NEMA’s Head of Relief and Rehabilitation, Dahiru Yusuf said the children are mostly from aged 10.

He said the items would be shared among them equally.

Hajiya Halima Mubi, who spoke on behalf of the others, described what happened in Mubi when the insurgents took over the town as pathetic. “We never experience such a thing but we thank God we are alive and pray to Allah to return peace to Mubi and Nigeria,” she said.

It could be recalled that Pastor Yohanna Buru, of Peace Revival Foundation of Nigeria, was the first to donate food items to the displaced persons in Rigasa and appealed to the insurgents in North-East to please ceasefire and stop killing innocent lives in that part of the country.
