Following the last weekend flood disaster in Birnin Kebbi and Arugungu local government areas of the state, yesterday, the National Emergency Management Agency [NEMA] in charge of North-West comprising of Sokoto, Kebbi and Zamfara, has donated relief materials worth millions of Naira to the affected victims.
Presenting the items to the Deputy Governor Alhaji Ibrhaim K. Aliyu, the officer in charge of the zone which is under Kaduna Zone, Sa’ad Ibrahim Bello said that the NEMA is handling the disasters matter efficiently, while urging people to avoid dumping refuge in the drainage areas.
‘’When NEMA heard of the flood they sent their team to come and ascertain the level of the damage and the number of people that were affected’’ he explained.
He said that over four thousand people were affected in the two local governments, even as he solicited the assistance of the state governors in handling the situation.
Responding, the State Governor Alhaji Ibrhaim K. Aliyu, thanked NEMA for its support, and promised them that the items would be used judiciously.
