The Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, Sunday unveil the new Nike national teams’ jersey for the 2020-2022 period, Bestchoicesports.com.ng can report.
On Sunday, September 21, 2020, the social media was besieged by pictures of the new home and away jersey.
Super Eagles stars Wilfred Ndidi, William Troost-Ekong Samuel Chukwueze as well as Super Falcons captain, AsisatOshoala and RasheedatAjibade all wore the new jersey in some of the pictures trending on social media.
Although there is no official statement from the nations football umpire, the NFF however launched the jersey on its twitter handle.
“New kit alert! 2020-2022. #Team9jaStrong #SoarSuperEagles #SoarSuperFalcons,” NFF said on Sunday.
Also reacting to the new jersey, Troots-Ekong expressed confidence and readiness to defend the jersey,
“Ready to defend my new stripes. So proud to wear the new Nigeria kit. NAIJA Stand Up.”
On her part, Ajibade while expressing joy over the new jersey, said that nobody can stop the team “I’m excited to launch the new Nigeria kit. So proud to be a Nigerian. @nikefootball #YouCantStopUs”
The new jersey was initially set to be launched on 5th February in the United States of America.
Apart from being used for 2022 World Cup qualifiers, the new jerseyit was gathered may also be used by the three-time African Cup of Nations winners in the AFCON 2021 qualifying campaign, which resumes in November.
Nigeria wowed the world with their jerseys at the last FIFA World Cup in Russia, with fans flocking to top shops to buy the kit designed and produced by leading sports kit manufacturers Nike to purchase their authentic Eagles jersey.
It is recalled that scores of fans lined Oxford Street in London for hours on end to get the chance to pick up at the genuine Eagles jersey prior to the Russia 2018 World Cup and with the new launch of the jersey coming in over a week’s time, President of the Nigeria Football Federation, AmajuPinnick anticipates a longer queue for the Nigerian jersey.
