NDE, Rep member empower 200 women, youth in Benue

The National Directorate of Employment, NDE in collaboration with the Member, House of Representatives for Otukpo/Ohimini Federal Constituency Hon. Blessing Onyeche Onuh at the weekend disbursed over N2 million COVID19 palliativea to 200 women and Youths.
Benue State Coordinator, NDE Mr. Musa Sadauki maintained that the disbursement of 10,000 each to the beneficiaries is a practical demonstration of the effort of the Federal Government of Nigeria and the present management of NDE led by Dr. Nasir Mohammed Ladan Argungu to cushion the scourge of the COVID – 19 pandemic on the Benue people through the provision of palliative by the House of Representatives member.
He reeled out some achievements of NDE in the State, stating that two (2) months ago 230 women from the 23 local government areas of the State were empowered with 10,000 naira to start off micro business.
The Coordinator said that 50 women and youths were selected and underwent training under the School On Wheel, SOW in collaboration with Makurdi local government area care taker Chairman while another 690 youths and women have been trained in 23 local government areas in skills like wielding, fashion designing, shoe making, hair dressing and ICT.
He added that a batch of 50 unemployed youths undertook a three(3) months training in Special Agricultural Development Training Scheme, SADT in Poultry and cultivation of vegetables in Otukpo local government area.
The House of Representatives member for Otukpo/Ohimini Federal Constituency Hon. Blessing Onuh commended the effort of President Muhammad Buhari for the several initiatives put in part to bring succors to Nigerians in this difficult time of the outspread of COVID19.
I want to also, commend the Director General of NDE for living up to expectation in the fight of Employment Generation and Poverty Reduction, and also the State Coordinator NDE for championing the cause of Poverty Reduction and Employment Generation in the state.
“I appeal to the good people of Otukpo/ Ohimini to make good use of this small palliative by the the Federal Government. You should use the money to start up a business or even purchase seedlings and agro-chemical since it is the cropping season. I enjoin you all never to relent in supporting the administration of President Muhammad Buhari for a better and greater Nigeria”, Hon. Onuh appealed.
