The Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Christian Pilgrim’s Commission (NCPC), John Kennedy Opara has emphasised the need for more cooperation and understanding between the commission and private Christian tour operators.
A statement by the head of media and publicity, NCPC Celestine Ogugua said the NCPC helmsman made the call when he received delegates of the Christian Tourism Practitioners Association of Nigeria who paid him a courtesy visit at the NCPC Corporate Headquarters, yesterday in Abuja. According to the statement, Opara stressed the need for the Commission and Christian Private Tour Operators to always work in understanding and synergy.
“We are partners in progress and not competitors and as such we should always be on the same page.” It added, the NCPC is a government body set up by an Act of the National Assembly and should not be in any competition with anybody.
It further stated that the Commission would continue to encourage and support Christian Private Tour Operators in Nigeria. The NCPC boss commended the Executive Members of the Association for coming to dialogue with him on how private tour Operators and the Commission can work together to move Christian Pilgrimage in Nigeria to the next level. “You have done the right thing and you have taken a very bold step”.
The statement also said the Commission has embarked on earnest sensitization drive to States and Churches to sensitize Christians on the consciousness of Christian pilgrimage.
It added that, the Chairperson of the Association, Mrs. Adeola Adekola commended the Executive Secretary on the various achievements of Christian Pilgrimage in Nigeriaand urged him to continually use his good offices to encourage registered private tour operators.
