The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) yesterday said improved media relations were paramount if it must effectively communicate its numerous programmes to the public.
Director, Public Affairs, NCC, Dr. Henry Nkemadu stated this when he led a team from the Commission on a courtesy visit to the Head Office of Peoples Daily Newspaper in Abuja.
Dr. Nkemadu said the Commission takes media partnership seriously; therefore, efforts would be made to sustain the mutually beneficial relationship with Peoples Daily.
“We take media partnership seriously, and Peoples Daily is one of the newspapers that we have had relationship with. We want to ensure that we continue to have a mutually beneficial relationship. This visit is a courtesy call as a new Director, Public Affairs, NCC. We will extend our hands of fellowship to you,” he said.
He said, the Commission as a Telecoms Regulator was also in strategic partnership with other government agencies to better the job.
The Chief Operating Officer (COO)/Editor, Peoples Daily, Hameed Bello in his response, welcomed and commended NCC for a job well done.
He said the NCC under the current management of Prof. Umar Garba Danbatta has done well especially with the remittance of N51.3billion to the Federal Government’s Consolidated Revenue Fund (CRF) in the first quarter of 2019.
He said, Peoples Daily has given the Commission fair reportage of programmes, therefore, requested that as part of the partnership, the paper should be carried along in NCC’s corporate programmes.
