The natives of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) have congratulated the FCT Minister, Senator Bala Mohammed over the award of honorary doctorate degree in governance (D.Gov.), by the Igbinidion University, Okada, Edo state.

In a statement issued in Abuja, the Coordinator of Abuja Original Inhabitants Coalition Groups, Engr. Danjuma Bussa, noted that the award was a clear confirmation of the position held by the natives of the territory over the performance of the incumbent minister of FCT Administration.

He equally added that Igbinidion University has demonstrated beyond doubt the impartial nature of the ivory tower, even as he called on other institutions to give honor to whom honor is due.

“The award clearly shows that the University saw what we have seen in the administration of FCT under Senator Bala Mohammed. Before now, many of our critics accuse us of being sycophantic as regards the issue of good governance in the territory.

“We are happy that a pioneer private University has confirmed our view and we want to identify with this great and well deserved honour,” he said.

The natives therefore called on the FCT Minister to leverage on the award and fast-track the development of some critical infrastructures in the nation’s capital, stressing that “to whom much is given, much is expected.”

“The award will serve as a springboard of greater things to come and it will equally serve as a tonic to fast-track the development of the territory beyond 2015.

“We urge him to continue on the path of honor, integrity and transparency in handling the affairs of the administration,” he stressed.

He however, commended the Igbinidion University for the choice of the FCT minister, and tasked other institutions of learning to emulate the University.
