Social critic, Abubakar Tsav has decried yesterday’s incident at the National Assembly where members of the House of Representative were tear-gassed by policemen as a show of shame to the nation.
Tsav who in a text statement circulated to newsmen in Makurdi, Benue state, yesterday said, ‘the use of the police against the opposition will definitely break up Nigeria and usher in anarchy’.
He said the show of shame exhibited at the National Assembly is not only disgraceful and shameful but shows immaturity and intolerance by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) government.
The retired Lagos state police Commissioner noted that by law, Tambuwal is still the Speaker of the House of Representative until he is removed, saying since he is yet to be removed as Speaker, no one has the right to stop him from entering and presiding over the proceedings in the House.
He regretted that security operatives would now be used to breach the laws of the country, describing it as ‘an act of gangsterism and disrespect to national institutions to tear-gas members of the National Assembly.
