The Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) has said there will be no going back on the association’s plan to proceed on a nation-wide strike demanding government to fulfil all the agreement reached with it relating to better condition of service.
The Chairman, NMA Bauchi state chapter, Dr. Yusuf Abdu Misau, who made the declaration while briefing newsmen, said the measure is to safeguard, protect and project the image of the profession and patients in general.
Among the demands of the association is the appointment of substantive Surgeon-General of the Federation, an end to the appointment of Directors in hospitals and the immediate passage of National Health Bill.
Other demands are clinical duty allowances for consultants, adjustment of specialist remuneration in conformity with the agreement reached with government since 2009, among others.
