NATA election holds February 27

The rift between the executive and members of Nigerian Automobile Technicians Association (NATA) , Niger state chapter will soon be over as a six man electoral committee have been inaugurated with the mandate to conduct election within one week.

The Association have been engulfed in leadership crisis because of the refusal of the outgoingexecutive to call for a fresh election when their tenure expired four years ago.

It was gathered that the outgoing chairman ,AlhajiJamiuLawal has been in the position for past 14 years and all effort by other members to let him see reason to conduct a fresh election to enable fresh hands to take over the mantle of leadership of the association felled on deaf ears.

However, the Association’s crisis got to a stage whereby the State Director of the State Security Services SSS has to intervened and called the protesting members and the ‘’seat tight’’ executive to a peace meeting in his office recently.

According to source, it was at the meeting with the SSS director that the over stayed executive were given the matching order to conduct an election within the shortest possible time Inaugurating the six man electoral committee on Wednesday the outgoing chairman stated that all efforts made by him to conduct election for new officers was not fruitful because of the ambition of some few members who wanted to truncate the constitution of the association..

AlhajiJamiu who confirmed that his second tenure expired about four years ago said, Tools Centre, he established in conjuction with the GTZ was not his personal property but that of NATA.

The six man electoral committee is chaired by UguchukwuAneke fromChachanga Unit, BabatundeLawall as secretary wo is from Bosso Unit while DaudaHamza, UsmanSule, Yaha Mohammed and AdewaleSaka fromBosso, Chachaga and Minna West respectively are members of the committee.

The election is expected to hold on Thursday 27th Feb., 2014 atMaitumbi Unit of the Association.
