NASS satisfied with fights against banditry in North West

Senate and House Chairmen Committees on Army, Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume and Honorable AbdulRazak Namdas have jointly expressed satisfaction with the successes recorded so far by the Nigerian Army in fights against banditry, Kidnapping and cattle rustling in North West.
The two committee Chairmen on Army were in Super Camp 4 Faskari of Katsina state yesterday to assess the success recorded so far in the ongoing operations by the Nigeria Army under Operation Sahel Sanity.
Speaking to Journalists, the Senate Chairman Committee on Army, Mohammed Ali Ndume, said he personally asked the pilot to fly round the bushes at lower level, and he witnessed large turn out of farmers working on their farm lands.
“We flied round some parts of the forests from Kaduna to Katsina, and to be candid, I realized that some social activities have fully returned including farming, they were areas that only hard criminals could reach before.
“The Nigerian army deserve commendation considering their efforts in putting armed bandits, kidnappers and cattle rustlers on the run despite challenges on fighting equipments but, with those at their disposal, normalcy has returned to numerous dangerous areas.
Also speaking, the Chairman House Committee on Army, honorable AbdulRazak Namdas, said both the national assemblies were on the efforts to ensure that Nigerian Army are provided with more sophisticated weapons and to uplift the welfare of both Soldiers and Officers.
“I appreciated level of respect our Soldiers have for the Rules of Engagement guiding operation Sahel sanity.
It is worth of commendation, there is no longer reports on further attacks by bandits, kidnapping and cattle rustling as the criminals are no longer there to be found in the bushes.
“The development we have witnessed been achieved by the Nigerian Army have indeed qualified media reports which encouraged our assessment visit, there were hitch-free movements within the zone, markets are fully operating, farming and other social activities in Katsina, Zamfara and Sokoto”, Namdas has stated.
