All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) has stated that it will liberate Nasarawa state from the shackles of imperialism and called on party members to join hands with the party to confront the forces of darkness that have refused development to thrive in the state.
The national chairman of APGA, Victor Oye, stated this in a press briefing at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja yesterday, where he urged members to remain law abiding, and not to resort to self-help, even as he emphasized the need for them to collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).
According to him, if the citizens of the state can use their PVCs wisely, God will liberate the state from the greed and avarice of those who call themselves leaders of the state.
“What is happening in Nasarawa state, we cannot tolerate it, we appeal to all of you in Nasarawa State to be law abiding, you should not resort to self-help , get your PVCs, protect your PVCs, use your PVCs wisely to deal with the forces of darkness that have refused development to thrive in Nasarawa State.
“We believe that someday soon, God will liberate that state from the greed and avarice of those who call themselves leaders of Nasarawa State”, he said.
Speaking further, the APGA chairman said the party is one of the most democratic parties in Nigeria, urging Nigerians from all over the country to come and join the party in its move to salvage the party from imperialism.
“APGA is the most democratic party in Nigeria, which is why I call Nigerians to come into APGA. So that collectively we can liberate this country from the shackles of imperialism and poverty and penury which has stagnated the growth and development of this country.
“We must work as a team to move this country to the next level of development and that is the only way the world will respect us. We must live within the confines of the law and decency and that is the only way the world will respect u.
“Not when a man wakes up and begins to wield hammer as if he is the lord of the manor. That is what is happening in Nasarawa state, we cannot tolerate it”, he added. .
In a related development, the governorship aspirant of APGA in Nasarawa, Labaran Maku, has alleged that the poor people in Nasarawa State deposit their Permanent Voters Card (PVC) in the name of collecting loans.
Speaking on the sideline of vote buying in the country by political parties, Maku said “I want to say that in some places people pretending to give loans have gone round to ask people to surrender their PVCs, in Nasarawa, it is widespread.
“Women and youths who are poor are and suffering because of bad governance, people are now posing that they are coming to offer them loans two three months to elections. If you go, then your PVC will be your collateral, they will collect their PVCs, copy the numbers on the PVCs and distribute pittances to them.
“We are aware that this record they are keeping is to go and manipulate the election by setting up in the Government house in Lafia, what is called special situation room where they will now go and collect those PVC numbers and use it to prepare election results different from that of INEC, convey them electronically to INEC different from what is happening at the polling unit.
“So, this is what is going on massively not only in Nasarawa but in many places. Why are they giving these loans few months to the election, and why must a loan have a PVC, a voters card as a collateral, is there no other thing you can ask from the poor people to bring?”, he said.
