From Gambo Ahmed, Lafia

Nasarawa State Universal Basic Education chairman, Malam Abdulkarim Mohammed Abdullahi has described the provision of infrastructure across primary, secondary and tertiary institutions in the state by Governor Tanko Al-makura as commendable.

Speaking in an interview with journalists yesterday in Lafia the state capital Malam Abdulkarim said that Al makura’s focal point of development is centered around basic education as the fundamental backbone of any society.

According to him, what Governor Al makura has done in the education sector within the few years in office can better be described in a computer language termed hardware and software.

He continued:”Hardware means provision of infrastructure, which have international standard and the software means training and retraining of teachers for better performance.

His words “Al makura shall never beforgotten because of his focal point on education in the state, as compared in the past and that is why he deserves Kudos”.

On the current allegation of diversion of funds by the state Universal Basic Education Board, Abdulkarim said the allegations are false, adding that the Assembly members are free to go to the (SUBEB) headquarters in Abuja for verification.

“I am delighted to have appeared before the Assembly members to answer questions recently, my hands are clean, our records are there for us and I am not a contractor” he added”.

He maintained that SUBEB is one of the mostly closely supervised and monitored institution in the country by the authority concern and wondered why such false allegations, describing it as Africa ‘ameboism’ and gossips. He, however, reiterated that SUBEB in the state strictly follows due process, adding that Governor Tanko Al makura has no hand in SUBEB contracts, describing the allegation against him as a mere fallacy.
